Dr. Harlan Weisman M.D. is a cardiologist and biotech leader with over 30 years’ experience in biomedical research and invention. Join Chef David Bouley and Dr. Weisman as they discuss his interdisciplinary approach to heart health, nourishing your body and soul. 

“We have billions of bacteria, viruses and fungi living on and inside of us that we have co-evolved with over thousands of years that are essential for our health and well-being—the microbiome.  Over the last half century, we have damaged this complex ecosystem through changes in diet and lifestyle.  In parallel we’ve seen an exponential rise in autoimmune disorders, allergies, obesity, diabetes, heart disease and stroke.”

Dr.  Weisman will discuss an integrated approach to restoring the health of our microbiome through a healthful diet, regular exercise, adequate rest and stress reduction that can help us attain physical, mental, emotional and spiritual well-being.

Dr. Weisman’s presentation will be followed by a wellness-inspired multi-course dinner created and prepared by Chef David Bouley.

Dr. Harlan F. Weisman, M.D.

Harlan F. Weisman, M.D. is a cardiologist with over 30 year’s experience in biomedical research and executive leadership at biotechnology, pharmaceutical and medical device companies. He is the co-founder and Chief Scientific Officer for Mycrobiomics, a company focusing on helping consumers understand the importance of gut microbes and what they need from us to help us be healthy in body and in mind. Dr. Weisman was previously Chairman and CEO of Coronado Biosciences, Inc, a company developing products to harness the human microbiome to treat autoimmune diseases. In addition, Dr. Weisman is Managing Director of And-One Consulting and serves as an advisor to medical product companies, investment firms, academic medical centers and government and non-government healthcare organizations. He currently serves on the board of several biotechnology and medical device companies and was on the Board of Governors of the Patient Centered Research Institute (PCORI), which was established by the U.S. Congress as part of the Affordable Care Act, from its founding in 2010 through 2016.

Dr. Weisman’s previous experience in business, science and medicine includes serving as a senior executive at Johnson & Johnson in roles including Chief Science and Technology Officer for Medical Devices, Company Group Chairman, J&J Pharmaceutical Research & Development, and President of Centocor R&D. In these roles he led the development of over 15 new drugs that have been brought to market and was a pioneer in the development of monoclonal antibodies as therapeutic agents, including Remicade, Simponi and Stelara for immune-mediated inflammatory diseases, as well as ReoPro for cardiovascular disease. Before joining industry, Dr. Weisman was Assistant Professor of Medicine at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine, Consultant Cardiologist at Johns Hopkins Hospital, Director of the Laboratory for Experimental Cardiac Pathology and on the faculty of the American Heart Association Physician Cholesterol Education program. He has a B.A. with high honors from the University of Maryland and M.D. cum laude from the University of Maryland School of Medicine. Dr. Weisman completed an Internal Medicine residency at Mount Sinai Hospital in New York and a fellowship in cardiovascular disease at Johns Hopkins Medical Institutions. He is the recipient of numerous awards for contributions to science and medicine, an author of more than 100 articles and book chapters and is a frequent invited speaker at international meetings on medical innovation, health policy and product development strategy.
